Buried Monuments is a collaborative project I developed with artist Alexander Stevenson exploring notions of heritage, permanence and embedded cultural meaning within landscape. Initially developed as a temporary public work the project was subsequently developed for a commission by Sideshow 2010 at One Thoresby Street. For this exhibition four video’s were produced by different editors with a very limited brief. Each editor was sent a selection of footage of the event and asked to interpret this footage of the burial of a monumental object. For the exhibition each film was presented on a screen encased within a large pillar, creating varied narratives between each of the films.
These four short films have been combined into a single screen presented below.
